SØRUM GÅRD Sørum is a name for a collection farms situated mainly on the east side of the Lier river. The name comes from the old norwegian language "Suðrheimar" which mean the "farms in the south". The place was "cleared" in late Iron Age, possible Romer age. Possible allready in Viking time they start deviding the farms. In 1350 there were 6 farms. |

In the 18th and
19th century the farms are partiated and composed together several times. Today there are
5 farms. Our farm is called "Sørum Nordvestre" (northwest sørum). We got a seter after 1723 and it was used til 1930 (se below) Around 1723 there belonged a small watermill to the farm. Some of the remains are still there. |

The main house
was rebuild in 1885 after a fire. The barn was build in 1888. Till 1964 there were cows and horses on the farm. Today we have egg production, glasshouses with cucumber, strawberries, corn and wood production. There belongs a little pond to the farm where we try to raise trouth. |
|
From around 1400
the farms where owned by the church. In 1870 the farm was first time privat owned. The owners could not pay back the loan and had to sell it in 1875. |
|
In 1892 the farm went over to Ole Larsen Sørum (Ask), My husbands great grandfather. His son Herman took over the farm in 1937. Oddmund Fjelltun (married with Herman's only child Turid), took over the farm in 1964. | |

Every farm in Norway has a seter, a small cabin where the farmer goes to live in the summer with the cows. Our cabin was build in 1995 on the remains of the original sæter and is situated in the woods above the farm. We use it for outdooractivities |

BJØRKELY This is our cabin in Valdres (if you look closely you will find a dogteam on it) The cabin is situated in a small village Beito by the foot of the Jotuheimen (The Giant Mountains) On the background you see "Slettefjell" (The flat mountain). It is a great place for the dogs. |
